Buttery Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons #ButterLondon

Press Sample.  All opinions are my own.
Hello, Fireflies!

I am obsessed with lippies - all kinds - lipsticks, lip gloss, lip balm, liquid lipstick, matte, glossy, satin, creamy, I want to try it.  So I was thrilled that Butter London sent me their new Lippy Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons!

Last month, I reviewed Butter London's Shine Out Loud set which included the Lippy in Ladybird, a bright red-orange.  These have the same soft, smooth consistency, and a whole range of colors.

One reason that they're "Bloody Brilliant" is because of their design.  The cap has a neat shape that not only makes it easy to find in my purse, it also has its own sharpener in it! The pencils are fairly soft, so if you want to create a nice tip, you don't have to search for a sharpener to do it - and you don't have to mess with the residue of whatever was the last thing you sharpened.  Self-contained goodness.

I was never very good at math.  I knew there were seven crayons, yet I have eight swatches.  Apparently, I loved Toff so much I swatched it twice.  Or it could be Ruby Murray, because I accidentally smooshed the tip when I was swatching.  They look similar in arm swatches, but totally different on my lips.

I did notice that when looking at other bloggers' swatches of Ladybird, the color seemed to change between bright orange and red-orange, depending on the person wearing it.  I've already seen that same variation in Toff, which looks like a plummy brown on me, but looks more mauve-purple on others' lips.
All of them felt really moisturizing on my lips, a little slippery, not tacky.  They wore like a regular lipstick on me - pretty much staying on until I ate something.

Ruby Murray is probably my fave, because I just love berry colors.  The two pinks are so pretty.  Primrose Hill Picnic is such a trendy color this summer, and Disco Biscuit is the perfect light pink - I can't pull off the light pastel pinks, nor the bubblegum 'barbie' pink, but this is a sophisticated light pink.  I wore Toff with no other makeup one day, and it looked striking.  I have a look I did with Teddy Boy that I will share soon. It's such a great neutral color, and looked great with a bolder eye.   Trout Pout was the only one that had a weird finish on me - it was like the neon pigment settled into my lip lines, but I am old.  Tea With The Queen was the only one I just couldn't pull off.  Tan/Camel colors just make me look like death warmed over.

I found three colors in my Butterr London nail stash that matched three colors in these new Lippy Crayons! I did a fan brush gradient with them.  Trout Pout at the cuticle, then Primrose Hill Picnic, and then Toff at the tip.

What do you think of lip crayons?
